π₯£ Overnight Oats, Three Ways
Overnight oats are the easiest breakfast habit to keep: five minutes of assembly tonight buys you a ready-made, genuinely filling breakfast tomorrow. This recipe gives you the reliable base ratio, then three flavour directions so it never gets boring. Each jar keeps for up to three days in the fridge, so you can batch a few at once.
Method
- Add the oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds, sweetener, and salt to a jar or container with a lid.
- Stir in your chosen flavour additions (for the chocolate version, whisk the cocoa into the milk first so it doesnβt clump).
- Seal and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or overnight.
- In the morning, stir well. If the oats are thicker than you like, loosen with a splash of milk.
- Top just before eating: fresh fruit, nuts, or a drizzle of nut butter all work. Eat cold, or warm gently in the microwave for 60 seconds if you prefer.
Cook's tip: Rolled oats are the sweet spot β instant oats turn to paste overnight, and steel-cut oats stay too chewy without cooking. The pinch of salt matters more than youβd think.
Variations & Swaps
- Make it vegan with plant milk and coconut yogurt.
- Boost the protein with a scoop of protein powder (add 2 extra tbsp of milk).
- Prep 3 jars on Sunday night for grab-and-go weekday breakfasts.
